Juried Art Exhibit Winners Announced

Woodlawn Arts Academy’s 17th annual Juried Art Exhibit featured nearly 100 pieces of artwork from more than 50 adult and student artists. Joe Milosevich, an award-winning artist from Crest Hill, was this year’s judge. Milosevich chose the following pieces as winners in this year’s exhibit:

  • “Emerging Vase,” Lloyd Beckman, first place, adult fine art.
  • “Autumn Storm,” Robert Cholke, first place, adult photography.
  • “Solace,” Caylee H., first place, children’s show.
  • “Sharing,” Shirley Guay, second place, adult fine art.
  • “Along Came a Spider,” Wolf Koch, second place, adult photography.
  • “Welded Cuff,” Justin J., second place, children’s show.
  • “Milk Chocolate Moon,” Neal Zahn, third place, adult fine art.
  • “Water Drop Windows,” Linnea Koch, third place, adult photography.
  • “Angry Owl,” Julianne C., third place, children’s show.
  • “White Hibiscus,” Karen Tucker, honorable mention, adult fine art.
  • “Father Daughter Dance,” Robert Cholke, honorable mention, adult photography.
  • “Kiltro,” Emmaliah C., honorable mention, children’s show.

Community members who attended the exhibit opening reception voted on their favorites for People’s Choice for Best of Show, choosing “The Bloom of the Desert” by Janice Conkrite.

The Juried Art Exhibit will remain on display through November 14th, and is free to view during Woodlawn’s regular business hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.

Woodlawn’s winter art exhibit, featuring the artwork of Janice Conkrite, Beverly Garcia, Becky Hundrieser and Karen Tucker, opens Friday, December 12th, with a reception from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Academy. The public is invited to view the artwork, meet the artists and enjoy refreshments. The exhibit will be on display in the halls and lounge at Woodlawn through February 12th, and the show is free to view.

Woodlawn Arts Academy is an agency of United Way of Whiteside and Lee counties, and financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
