Galva is gearing up for its second cleanup week, running from September 24th through the 27th. Residents are invited to bring eligible items to the city’s maintenance yard, but they must show proof of residency upon arrival. For those needing extra help, special pickup assistance is available if scheduled in advance. Organizers are reminding participants that some materials—specifically shingles, yard waste, and hazardous materials—will not be accepted during the event. This initiative aims to help keep the community tidy and clutter-free as fall approaches. For full guidelines and scheduling information, residents should contact city offices.

Residents who are handicapped, elderly, or otherwise unable to bring items to the maintenance yard are encouraged to contact City Hall for assistance with scheduled pickups. To arrange for this service, call 309-932-2555 before September 24th. Remember, only one pickup per residence will be provided, and items must be placed on the curb on September 23rd—pickup teams will not enter backyards or other structures. Due to limited staff, this assistance is reserved for those who truly need help, and services will only be available on Wednesday, September 24th. Remember, unscheduled pickups will not be honored, so be sure to call ahead.

Eagle Enterprises will now accept televisions and electronic components for a fee during regular business hours. For questions about accepted items, call 932-2936. Additionally, the maintenance yard will extend its hours to assist with cleanup. On September 24th and 25th, hours are from 7 AM to 5 PM; on September 26th, from 7 AM to 3 PM; and on September 27th, from 7 AM to noon. City Hall staff are available to answer questions at 309-932-2555, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Don’t miss this opportunity for responsible disposal.
