A new partnership between Memorial Hospital and Carthage Middle School is bringing healthcare education directly into classrooms. Hospital staff will collaborate with teachers, guiding students through hands-on sessions covering real-world health and life skills. The initiative aims to spark interest in healthcare careers and equip students with practical knowledge they can use throughout their lives. Organizers say the program will feature demonstrations and interactive lessons on topics like basic first aid, healthy habits, and emergency response. Both the hospital and school district believe this approach will empower students, making health education more engaging and relevant to their everyday experiences.
“How do we touch the lives of our kids?” said Ada Bair, CEO of Memorial Hospital and Hancock County Senior and Childcare Services. “When you really think about the health and wellness of our community, if we want to grow a healthier community, we have to do it with our kids.”
