Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie is hosting a Free Paper Shredding Event in Freeport on Wednesday, October 1st alongside State Representative John M. Cabello (R-Machesney Park).
Any paper documents can be brought to the event to be professionally and securely shredded and discarded at the event:
Date: Wednesday October 1st
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Highland Community College | 2998 West Pearl City Rd. Freeport, IL. | Parking Lot B
The lawmakers recommend residents use this event as a chance to safely and securely dispose of any paper documents that contain sensitive personal information. This event is free and open to all residents of the 89th and 90th House Districts. Attendees are encouraged to limit their items for shredding to only two banker boxes as the event will end once the truck reaches capacity.
“I’m proud to offer this event to help protect our residents and give them peace of mind knowing their personal information is safe,” said Leader McCombie. “I strongly encourage everyone who can to attend to take this simple step to safeguard you and your family from any sort of identity theft.”
With the ever-present threats of consumer fraud, Representative Cabello is urging constituents to attend the October 1st event.
“The risk to individuals’ personal and financial information has never been greater,” said Cabello. “Documents containing sensitive details—such as Social Security numbers, financial records, and medical information—can easily be exploited if not properly disposed of. Participating in this free shredding event is a simple but important step residents can take to protect themselves from identity theft, financial loss, and long-term damage to their credit.”
