The Utah Mammoth locked up center Logan Cooley with an eight-year, $80 million contract extension Wednesday.

Cooley, 21, leads the team in goals (eight) and is tied for second in points (12) through 11 games this season.

He has 121 points (53 goals, 68 assists) in 168 games since the then-Arizona Coyotes drafted him No. 3 overall in 2021.

“Choosing to play with this group of teammates was the easiest part of this decision, and living in Utah has been amazing since day one,” Cooley said. “The atmosphere at the Delta Center in front of our fans is unreal and (owners) Ryan and Ashley Smith have given our team every resource to succeed, which is all you can ask for as a player. We have an opportunity to do something special here thanks to the incredible people in the organization. This is an awesome day for me and my family, and I am proud to commit to the state of Utah and to the Mammoth.”

Cooley is playing out this season on the final year of his entry-level deal, with the extension starting in 2026-27. The $10 million average annual value of his new contract is the highest salary on the Utah roster.

“We are thrilled to sign Logan and have him with us in Utah for the next eight years,” general manager Bill Armstrong said. “Logan is not only an incredible player but an even better person and we look forward to watching him grow. He, along with the rest of our core group, will have an impact in Utah for many years to come. It’s a great day for Mammoth fans and another exciting moment for our organization.”

The Mammoth are tied for first place in the Central Division after an 8-3-0 start to the franchise’s second season in Salt Lake City.
