The Sterling Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire at 1411 Avenue H in Sterling Wednesday afternoon at approximately 16:43. Sterling Fire was assisted on the scene by the Rock Falls Fire Department as well as Sterling Police, and CGH Ambulance Service.
Fire crews arrived on the scene at 16:48 and found smoke coming from the chimney of a single-story home. All residents were able to safely evacuate the building before fire crews arrived. Firefighters initiated an interior attack and successfully extinguished the fire. No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.
Fire damage was localized to inside and around a washer/dryer. There was also moderate smoke damage throughout the home.
