The City Clerk for Kewanee was officially appointed as the City Manager Pro Tempore at the November 10th Kewanee City Council Meeting. Mayor Gary Moore suggested Kasey Mitchell fill the interim city manager position until a new city manager is recruited and hired. The mayor and city council unanimously approved the resolution appointing Kasey Mitchell. Since the termination of Gary Bradley on October 27th, Mayor Gary Moore, Kasey Mitchell, and department heads have been filling the gap to ensure the City of Kewanee continues to run smoothly with few interruptions. Mayor Moore took vacation time from his full-time job to work at City Hall full-time to help with the normal workload of the city manager. The city council approved a resolution allowing the mayor and city clerk to execute a service agreement with MGT for recruiting services in the search for a new city manager. The recruitment process is expected to take approximately 14 weeks.
“As we move through this transition. I want to assure everyone that your city government remains committed to transparency, accountability, and collaboration. We remain focused on proving high quality services, supporting local development, and ensuring that our community thrives,” said Mayor Gary Moore regarding the termination of Gary Bradley.
While comments swirl regarding hiring a new city manager, Mayor Gary Moore and Interim City Manager Kasey Mitchell will join Wake Up Tri-Counties this week to talk about the transition, recruitment process, and city manager form of government.
