Bureau County Authorities Investigate Train and Truck Collision Near US Highway 6

Authorities in Bureau County are investigating a serious collision between a truck and a westbound Iowa Interstate train, occurring around 9:30 AM on January 21st. The incident took place halfway south of US Highway 6, on 975 East Street. According to Sheriff James Reed, a 78-year-old man from Princeton was driving north when his vehicle struck the train. Emergency crews from several surrounding towns, including Buda and Sheffield, responded quickly. The driver was extricated and flown to a medical facility via Life Flight. Officials have not yet released any names, as the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The Bureau County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wyanet Police Department, Buda Fire and Buda EMS, Sheffield Fire and Sheffield EMS, and Life Flight.
