Kewanee Police have arrested two people following an investigation into a newborn who suffered severe injuries. Authorities report that on December 22nd, 2025, the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) contacted police about the infant’s condition. Detectives found inconsistencies between the father’s account and the baby’s injuries after reviewing medical records, DCFS reports, executing search warrants, and interviewing involved parties. On February 12th, 2026, the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office filed formal charges and issued an arrest warrant against Armando Rosas, 30, the infant’s father. He was transported to the Henry County Jail and is charged with two counts of aggravated battery (Class X Felony) and one count of endangering the life or health of a child (Class A Misdemeanor). Later on Thursday, Alexis Echelberger, 24, was also charged with endangering a child (Class A Misdemeanor). She was processed and released from custody with a notice to appear.
