Fulton Historical Society Presents “Field Trip” to Native Habitat Restoration

Nature enthusiasts and history buffs in Fulton have an opportunity to experience conservation in action this Sunday, March 15th,, at 2:00 p.m. The Fulton Historical Society is hosting its first “field trip” program at the Native Habitat Restoration site on Elston Road. Dean Huisingh, founder and director, will present a slide show detailing the Huisingh Family Foundation’s mission to save Illinois species through habitat restoration.

Attendees will learn about the drastic changes Illinois’ landscape has seen since early settlement and how restoration work brings hope for the future. Light refreshments will be provided at this accessible, educational event.

Native Habitat Restoration site is at 17170 Elston Road, east of Fulton.  DIRECTIONS:  from the intersection of U. S. Route 30 and IL 84, go South on IL 84 and cross the railroad tracks; turn East (left) onto Holly Road.  Proceed about one mile to Elston Road.  The large, Native Habitat Restoration building is on the right.  There is ample parking, and the NHR building is easily accessible.
