Starting May 1st, Sterling residents will see a significant change in the way sidewalk repairs are handled. The city will now provide the labor for replacing damaged sidewalks, with homeowners only responsible for the cost of concrete materials. This update replaces the previous program, where expenses were split evenly between the city and property owners.
Modeled after a program in Dixon that has helped make sidewalk repairs more affordable, officials hope the new approach will encourage more residents to participate and lead to safer, better-maintained walkways throughout Sterling neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to contact city hall for details on participating.
