Macomb’s Courthouse Square is buzzing as locals gather to celebrate the unveiling of a new Mr. Monopoly sculpture, paying tribute to Lizzie Magie, the local inventor of Monopoly, on her birthday. The tribute coincides with the grand reopening of Macombopoly, the city’s unique, app-powered board game experience that transforms the downtown streets into a life-sized Monopoly board.
Organizers hope the event not only honors Magie’s inventive spirit but also brings a fresh wave of visitors to the historic square. Community leaders encourage residents and tourists alike to roll the digital dice and join the interactive festivities.
