Statement from Sheriff John F. Booker – Irrigator Wire Thefts

The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating multiple irrigator wire thefts occurring throughout Whiteside County. These thefts are causing significant financial damage and disruption to our farming community

The Sheriff’s Office is increasing patrols in rural areas and utilizing additional investigative tools and proactive enforcement efforts to identify those responsible. We are committed to aggressively pursuing anyone involved in these crimes

I encourage all residents, especially those in rural areas, to remain alert and keep an eye out for suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals around farm equipment, irrigators, and remote properties. If you see something suspicious, report it immediately by calling law enforcement. Quick reporting gives deputies the best opportunity to respond and prevent additional thefts

If you witness a crime in progress, call 911 immediately

Anyone with information related to these thefts is encouraged to contact Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867. Tips can be provided anonymously, and your information could help bring those responsible to justice

“Our farmers work hard every day, and these thefts directly impact the agricultural community and local families,” said Sheriff John F. Booker. We will continue taking a proactive approach, increasing patrols, and using every available resource to protect our rural communities and hold those responsible accountable.
