Sterling Man Facing Firearm and Fentanyl Charges

A Sterling man faces serious charges after police discovered a firearm and a significant quantity of fentanyl during an investigation. Authorities arrested 30-year-old Alexander M. Delgado Thursday evening after responding to reports of a suspicious person on West Fourth Street. Officers reportedly found Delgado carrying a pistol, 11 rounds of ammunition, and 3.6 grams of fentanyl. Delgado, with two prior felony convictions, is barred from possessing weapons.

At his court hearing, prosecutors stressed the danger of carrying such a high volume of this deadly drug. Delgado remains in Whiteside County Jail, with his next hearings scheduled for June 18th and June 22nd.

Delgado is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
