    EFFECTIVE
    This Friday night and Saturday morning from 640 PM until 200 AM CDT.
    THREATS
    Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible, Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible, A tornado or two possible
    SITUATION
    A cluster of thunderstorms should pose a threat for mainly scattered severe/damaging winds as it tracks east-southeastward this evening into early Saturday morning. Peak gusts may reach up to 60-70 mph. Isolated hail and perhaps a brief tornado or two may also occur with any cells that can move along/near a boundary. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 55 statute miles north and south of a line from 40 miles west northwest of Moline IL to Valparaiso IN.     PRECAUTIONS
    A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

Lola Lee Millman

Lola Lee Millman, 88, of Kewanee, passed away at 4:20 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Arcadia Care at Kewanee.

She was born on July 4, 1937 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of George T. and Jessie M. (Edson) Johnson. She married Monte M. “Skip” Millman on August 21, 1954 in Sapulpa, OK and he preceded her in death on December 29, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and George, and her son, Myron. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Monica Heil of Bettendorf, IA and Marla (Kurt) Ruth of Westminster, MD, her sister, Geraldine (Lloyd) Coats, nine grandchildren; Amy (George) Duru, Melissa Peterson (Nick Jensen), Matthew Peterson, Amanda Peterson, Elizabeth Kelley (Kevin Newton), Scott (Hope) Millman, Jennifer Roth (Marc Schiller) and Madeline Roth (Jackson Myers) and eleven grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Lola graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1956. She began her career at the General Telephone Company as an operator and later in accounting and banking, retiring in 1993 following 27 years of dedicated services. Lola enjoyed playing bingo and doing puzzles. She looked forward to chatting with friends in her coffee group at the Villas at Kewanee each morning. She also enjoyed watching the sunsets from her room or patio at the Villas.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the food service staff at the Villas and Beacon of Hope caregivers who provided exceptional care for Lola. They also wish to acknowledge her daughter-in-law, Jane Millman, for the additional assistance she provided over the past several years.

In accordance with her wishes, a graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Monte in the Millman lot in the northeast corner of the cemetery. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the graveside service at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Red Cross, Visitation Catholic School or to a favorite charity of your choice. Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee is assisting the family with arrangements.
