Sterling City Council to Hold Session on Surveillance Cameras

After weeks of community debate, the Sterling City Council and Police Department are set to hold a public study session on Monday, June 15th. The session aims to address concerns over automated license plate reader cameras positioned near the riverfront. Many residents worry these cameras may inadvertently record children playing at the Northwestern Steel and Wire Park splash pad.

Officials say the study session will examine camera placement, privacy safeguards, and seek public input. The outcome may influence future surveillance policies throughout Sterling. Community members are encouraged to attend and share their perspectives on the issue.
