The newly formed Kewanee Chess Association is hosting an open Chess session on June 25th and announcing affiliations with the Illinois and United States Chess Associations

The Kewanee Chess Association invites the community to a free, open chess session on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, at 1 PM at the Henry County Senior Center. Players of all ages and experience levels are welcome, from beginners learning the basics to seasoned competitors looking for a challenge. The club says the event is a chance to think, strategize, and connect through the game of chess. The association is also celebrating a major milestone, becoming an affiliate club of both the Illinois Chess Association and the United States Chess Federation. Organizers say those partnerships could bring new opportunities for local players, tournaments, and community connection through chess.
