Youth Firearm Safety and Responsibility Getting a Boost
The Macomb Police Department is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA) to support youth firearm safety and responsibility education. The grant funding was utilized to purchase ammunition and steel targets that will assist with training and educational activities conducted through the department’s Police Explorer Program.
The Macomb Police Department operates a Police Explorer Program designed to provide area youth with an opportunity to learn about law enforcement, develop leadership skills, and gain a better understanding of the responsibilities associated with a career in public safety. As part of the program, Explorers participate in firearm safety instruction, range days, and hands-on training focused on the safe and responsible handling of firearms.
The Macomb Police Department appreciates the support of the National Rifle Association and its commitment to promoting firearm responsibility and education among youth. Partnerships such as this allow the department to continue investing in positive relationships with young members of our community while providing valuable educational experiences.
