“Seussical: The Musical” at Hainline Theatre
Western Illinois University SummerStage will present “Seussical: The Musical” Friday, July 17th and Saturday, July 18th, in Hainline Theatre.
Based on the works of Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss), “Seussical: The Musical” features a book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. The production is directed by Meagan Morrow with musical direction by Ethan Ivey.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 17th and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18th.
Seussical follows Horton the Elephant on a quest to protect an invisible speck of dust and an abandoned egg, delivering the message that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” Guided by the Cat in the Hat, the story travels through the Jungle of Nool, Whoville and the Circus McGurkus, bringing together many of Dr. Seuss’ best-known characters and stories.
SummerStage continues a long-standing summer theatre tradition at WIU, building on the legacy of the University’s Summer Music Theatre program. The annual production brings together professional artists, students and community members to collaborate, gain performance experience and share the stage.
Tickets are $25 for general admission and $20 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at westernpresents.com, by calling (309) 298-2900 or by visiting the WIU Box Office in the Hainline Theatre lobby.
