Citizen’s Police Academy Applications Being Accepted
The Sterling Police Department is now accepting applications for this year’s Citizen’s Police Academy. The sessions will begin on September 9th, and will be held on Wednesday of each week from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The seven–session academy will be an informative look at modern day policing practices within the Sterling Police Department and will cover the fol- lowing topics: Department Structure, A Day in the Life of a Police Officer, Millie Sterling Comfort Dog, Traffic and DUI Enforcement, Crime Scene Investigations, Shooting Simulator.
This is a free program and is an example of community policing efforts by the Sterling Po- lice Department. Space will be limited. Persons interested may apply online at sterling- il.gov.
