The new executive director of the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation Districts (AISWCD) says supporting local staff and reaching new audiences are at the top of his priority list.

“It’s not only elevating or leveraging those federal funds and those state funds,” he says, “but it’s making sure that they’re put into supporting the staff on the front lines that will put those practices to play.”
He says there are opportunities, and a need, for soil and water conservation districts to reach new audiences…
“Even as we look at board development, we need to look at new individuals to serve on the boards in our local communities as well, because we have a shortage of board members, we need to see that locally led voice take place,” he says.
