Former Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey has passed away.

Northey, who also served as an undersecretary at USDA for the Trump administration, was the secretary of agriculture in Iowa from 2007 to 2018.

Current Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says Northey loved Iowa and Iowa agriculture, and brought a farmer’s work ethic to every aspect of his life.

Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley says the Iowa farm community has lost a giant, calling Northey a dear friend and fierce advocate for the family farmer.
