Three Days Grace unveils early version of Mayday single

Three Days Grace is diving into their songwriting process by unveiling an early version of the band’s comeback single, “Mayday.”

In a video posted to YouTube, the “Just Like You” rockers listen to the very first recording of “Mayday,” which they call the “very original idea.”

“We started thinking about this song could almost be more of like an ‘Animal I Have Become’ and also ‘I Hate Everything About You,"” drummer Neil Sanderson says in the clip. “We decided to bring in a snotty acoustic guitar, and once we had those two elements together, the song really started taking shape.”

“Mayday,” which premiered in November, marks the first release from the revamped 3DG lineup featuring both frontman Matt Walst and returning vocalist Adam Gontier. It’s currently the #1 single on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

Three Days Grace will hit the road in February as part of Disturbed‘s 25th anniversary The Sickness tour.
