Adair Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest For Methamphetamine

MACOMB, IL – An early morning traffic stop in the rural Adair area resulted in the arrest of two McDonough county residents.

According to reports, a McDonough County Deputy observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations while on night patrol early Wednesday morning.

After initiating a traffic stop, the deputy made contact with the driver, Natcha R. Deweese, 33, of Havana, and passenger, Kevin W. Masten, 45, of Macomb, and observed several indicators of criminal activity, leading to a K9 unit being dispatched to the scene. A positive alert from the K9 unit led to a probable cause search which resulted in deputies locating packaged methamphetamine, loaded methamphetamine syringes, and other drug paraphernalia.

Deweese and Masten were both arrested, charged, and lodged in the McDonough County Jail charged with Delivery of Methamphetamine (5-15 grams), Possession of Methamphetamine (5-15 grams), Possession of Narcotic Instrument, and Possession of a Drug Paraphernalia.

Additionally, Deweese was charged with several traffic violations. Deweese’s bond is set for $1,000.00, Masten’s is set at $7,500.00.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
