Kewanee High School senior Alejandro Duarte has been named one of 21 male student-athletes honored as IADA All-State at the Illinois Athletic Directors Association’s convention in East Peoria on May 5, 2025. This marks the first year of the association’s All-State Recognition Awards, which differ from the IHSA All-State designations. Nominees had to be second-semester seniors who participated in at least two IHSA sports or activities for the past two years. Each athletic director was allowed to nominate one male and one female student athlete who met the criteria. Selections were based on involvement, leadership, athletic achievements, community service, honors, essays, and recommendations. Across the state’s 21 districts, one male and one female will be named to the all-state team, with additional honorable mentions. Duarte’s recognition highlights his commitment on and off the field, making his school and community proud.
