A fatal ATV crash has left an Altona man dead and a Cambridge man with life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, April 13, 2024, around 10:46 PM, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2800 block of Knox Road 900 E for a single vehicle ATV accident. A 25-year-old male from Altona was declared deceased at the scene. A 19-year-old Cambridge man was transported to a local hospital and then taken to OSF St Francis in Peoria by helicopter.
Preliminary information suggests the ATV was traveling through a field when it struck an embankment and some to an abrupt stop. The Knox County Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Names are being withheld pending notification to family.
