Authorities Classify Moline Duplex Fire as Intentional

One firefighter was treated at the scene with minor injuries while the Moline Fire Department battled an intentional fire at a vacant duplex on January 28, 2024. Around 3:24 PM, the Moline Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 2415 4th Avenue for a report of smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters arrived within five minutes to find light smoke coming from the second floor of the residence. The fire department ran hose lines into the structure and found multiple fires in different areas of the vacant duplex. The fire had traveled into the walls and spread to the attic. The fire was under control in less than one hour, and no neighboring properties were affected by the fire.

The Moline Police Department, Rock Island, Rock Island Arsenal, East Moline Fire Departments, Moline Second Alarmers, MidAmerican Energy, and Blaze Restoration assisted the Moline Fire Department.

One firefighter was treated for minor injuries on the scene and returned to duty. The Moline Fire Department’s Fire Prevention and Investigation Bureau is conducting a thorough investigation.
