Authorities are continuing their investigation into human remains found at the decommissioned Cherry Mine in Cherry, Illinois. An autopsy was conducted on June 11, 2024, but results are still pending. The Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, along with Coroner Alexandria Wamhoff, is handling the case. Officials have confirmed there is no active threat to public safety.
