Illinois Valley Community College will host best-selling author Joe Chianakas on Monday, October 20th, in celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month. Chianakas, known for his acclaimed young adult novels including “Unveiling Aiden,” “Darkness Calls,” and “Rabbit in Red,” will speak at 12:30 PM in the Jacobs Library Active Learning Space. His talk will explore the themes of persistence, community, and pride, drawing from both his writing and his experiences as an advocate. Attendees will have a chance to purchase “Singlets and Secrets” from the “Aiden” series. The event is open to the public and sponsored by campus groups supporting diversity and inclusion.
