Bombers Fall In Supersectional Shootout To Williamsville

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Macomb Bombers fell 32-36 in their Super-Sectional matchup against Williamsville last night in a tight defensive game that saw Macomb leading through three quarters .

The Bombers opened the contest on a tear, ending the first quarter with a 14-point lead, but the Bullets managed to close the gap to 6 before the end of the half. At the end of three, the Bombers still held them at bay with a 7-point lead, but a Bullet rally came in the fourth quarter led by senior guard Brecken Thomas, who delivered the team’s only 3-pointer of the game and lifted the Bullets ahead 29-27 at the free throw line following a steal.

Macomb regained the lead from a 3 by Braden Holthaus, but Williamsville answered with a go-ahead layup by Braden Saling just 30 seconds later.

Dion Doyle led the effort for the Bombers with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Bullets advance to the State Semifinals for first time since 1991, where they’ll be facing off against Chicago Phillips, who closed out Beecher 73-58 last night.
