The Bureau County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the death of Jerry D. Spears, age 82, of Buda, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at OSF Saint Clare Medical Center following a motor vehicle accident. An autopsy is scheduled, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will follow as additional information becomes available from the coroner and law enforcement.
The fatal collision involving a Buda man and a Sheffield farmer happened on 1250 N Avenue on May 10, 2025. An 82-year-old man driving a 2010 Nissan SUV struck a farm implement being towed by a John Deere tractor.
