On October 31, 2024, LaSalle County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a burglary in rural Rutland. Wendy C. Lipps (48), of Washburn, and Dalton L. Cooper (22), of Ohio, were detained on-site and charged with residential burglary. A warning shot was fired during the incident. The warning shot was fired by a representative of the property owner, who lawfully possessed the firearm. Both defendants were released with a court appearance notice.
Lipps and Cooper were charged with Residential Burglary and transported to the LaSalle County Jail, where they were later released with a Notice to Appear in Court. This investigation remains ongoing.
