Festivities are underway in Kewanee as the community gears up for a vibrant Independence Day weekend. Kick things off with Lyle Beaver & the Brass Notes tonight at Veteran’s Park, performing patriotic favorites perfect for the occasion. On July 4th, Francis Park becomes the hub for a car show, vendor and craft market, and guided tours of Woodland Palace. Residents can cool off with free admission at the Oasis Aquatic Center from noon until 6 PM. The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce will light up the sky with fireworks at 9:30 in Northeast Park. Don’t miss the Independence Day Polish Food Sale at the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church on North Tremont Street from 11 AM to sold out. To celebrate 100 years of Baker Park Golf Course, the Kewanee Park District is offering free golf (cart not included) from 7 AM to 2 PM.
The celebration continues Saturday morning at the Kewanee Farmers Market, and don’t miss another dazzling fireworks show at Cernovich Salvage Saturday night.
