    IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

    ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected across the watch area today, and again tonight into Sunday morning. Very high rainfall rates of 2 inches or greater in a short time are possible, which could lead to flash flooding particularly in urban areas. In addition, with the potential for repeated rounds of storms, some locations could receive 2 to 4 inches of rain with locally higher amounts possible. With saturated soils from previous rainfall, these rainfall rates and rainfall amounts will lead to an increased risk for flash flooding.

As the holiday season swings into full gear, the community is buzzing with excitement over the upcoming week of festive events in the Kewanee School District. Starting on December 9th, the Lyle Winter Art Fair will showcase local talent at Lyle School from 4 to 7 PM, followed by the Neponset Holiday Concert. The festivities continue with various school holiday concerts, including Irving School and Central Bands, promising delightful musical performances. Not to be missed is the KHS Holiday Mosaic on December 11th, where the Senior Art Showcase will also take place, offering a unique opportunity to meet the artists and vote for your favorite pieces. Make sure to mark your calendars for these engaging community gatherings!

The Lyle School Winter Art Fair begins the festive spirit on December 9th from 4 to 7 PM at Lyle School. Irving School performs on December 10th at Kewanee High School, and the KHS Holiday Mosaic will brighten the stage on December 11th at 7 PM in the Peterson Auditorium and Foyer, including the Senior Art Showcase Meet & Greet from 6:30 to 7 PM. You can vote on your favorite artist. The Belle Alexander holiday concert is on December 12th at Kewanee High School. The Kewanee Central concert is on December 16th at 6:30 PM in Peterson Auditorium. The Central Fourth Grade Musical is on December 17th at 7 PM in Peterson Auditorium.

Neponset Grade School announces its Winter Music Program titled ‘Gnome for the Holidays!’ set for December 9th at 6:00 PM. This festive event will feature performances from preschool through fifth grade students, along with the elementary and junior high bands.

Join the Irving Elementary students for their Winter Music Program titled ‘Pandamonium! A Musical for Young Voices’ on December 10th. The event begins at 6:00 PM at Brockman Gym, Kewanee High School. Students should report by 5:45 PM.

Belle Alexander’s Winter Program is set for Thursday, December 12th, at the KHS Auditorium. The kindergarten performance will begin at 5:45 PM, followed by the first grade at 7:00 PM. Community members are encouraged to attend and support the students.
