A 5-year-old child suffered minor injuries after colliding with a car while riding a bicycle in Fairview Homes on Friday night. On April 12, 2024, the Kewanee Police Department responded to a call for a juvenile on a bike struck by a vehicle. The child was treated at the scene for minor injuries by the Kewanee Fire Department and transported to OSF St. Luke Medical Center for further treatment.
The vehicle’s driver was identified as Tawnie Arrington, 27, of Wyant. Arrington was taken into custody and later released with a notice-to-appear court date. She is facing charges for driving while her license was revoked and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. A first appearance is scheduled for May 31, 2024.
