Spring has sprung and the City of Kewanee is asking residents to keep grass clippings in their yards. According to the State of Illinois “Litter Control Act,”  blowing grass clippings onto the roadways can get you a ticket and/or an ordinance violation from the City of Kewanee.  The fines from the state are up to $1,500 for a first offense and up to $25,000 for a third offense. Blowing grass clippings on the roadways is not only illegal, but it can cause motor vehicle accidents, clog storm drains, and introduce chemicals into the stormwater.
