The City of Colona received $30,000 in grant funds from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) to develop or revise existing strategic energy or climate action plans.  The grants are available from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program. The EECBG Program helps local governments prepare for future project funding opportunities offered by state or federal governments.

“Through this competitive grant program, Illinois EPA is investing U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funds in energy planning,” said Illinois EPA Director John J. Kim. “We have now awarded over $1.55 million in Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grants with more to come.”
The Illinois EPA is investing U.S. DOE IIJA funds in projects across the State that focus on energy efficiency, resiliency, and clean energy technologies, specifically in areas of environmental justice concern.
