WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) honored former Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) board member Jeff Kirwan on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to thank him for his leadership in the Illinois agriculture community. Jeff is retiring from the IFB board after serving on it for 10 years.
“As a new member of Congress, Jeff Kirwan was the first to let me tour his farm, where we talked about what I could do in Washington to help farmers back home prosper,” said Congressman Sorensen. “As a leader at the Illinois Farm Bureau, Jeff became a trusted voice and well-respected guide for farmers across the state. While his formal role may be ending, the impact of his leadership and generosity will be felt for years to come.”
In addition to serving on the board of the Illinois Farm Bureau, Jeff was president of the Mercer County Farm Bureau for 13 years, tackling county issues from livestock siting to rural mental health. Guided by his education in agronomy and formative years at GROWMARK, Jeff became one of the first in his region to use precision agriculture in the early 1990s.
