WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) recognized National Police Week today by thanking the brave men and women in law enforcement who serve communities across Illinois’ 17th District and the nation.
“This week, we honor the officers who put their lives on the line to keep us safe,” said Congressman Eric Sorensen. “Our law enforcement officers serve communities across the country with professionalism, courage, and a deep commitment to public safety. We’re grateful for their service, and we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
In remarks delivered on the House floor, Sorensen praised the dedication of local officers from Rockford to the Quad Cities, Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, and beyond. Congressman Sorensen stressed the importance of supporting law enforcement with the tools and training they need to serve safely and effectively.
“These are our neighbors, our friends, and our family members,” Sorensen said. “In Congress, I’ll keep working to make sure they have what they need to do their jobs and return home safely at the end of every shift.”
Congressman Eric Sorensen recently helped introduce the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to support small and midsize police departments with increased federal funding to recruit, train, and retain law enforcement officers.
