Joseph Menold:  Joseph Menold remains in custody. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for November 18, 2024, at 2 PM. Menold is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine 100-400 Grams (Class X Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver 100-400 Grams (Enhanced Class X Felony), and Possession of Heroin (Class 4 Felony) for case 2023CF25. Meth Delivery 15<100 Grams (Class X Felony) and Possession of Meth 15<100 Grams (Class 1 Felony) for case 2024CF278.

James Crockett: James Crockett accepted an open plea on October 21st. Crockett pleaded guilty to Domestic Battery for case 24CFF229. He pleaded guilty to Aggravated DUI/3, Aggravated Fleeing Police/21 MPH Over, and Reckless Driving for case 2024CF129. Mr. Crockett will remain detained and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 31, 2024, at 9 AM.

James Crockett was orginally charged with Aggravated DUI/3 (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated DUI/License Suspended or Revoked (Class 4 Felony), Aggravated Fleeing/21 MPH Over (Class 4 Felony), and Reckless Driving/Revoked License (Class 4 Felony) for case 2024CF129. He is charged with Domestic Battery (Class 4 Felony) for case 2024CF229.

Rodrigo Hernandez-Hernandez: Rodrigo Hernandez-Hernandez was released with pretrial conditions after the Judge ruled the state did not meet its burden to deny pretrial release. There were no interpreters available for the preliminary hearing. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for November 4, 2024, at 1 PM. Rodrigo Hernandez-Hernandez is charged with Cannabis Trafficking >5,000 Grams (Class X Felony), Mfg/Del Cannabis >5,000 Grams (Class X Felony), and Possession of Cannabis >5,000 Grams (Class 1 Felony).

According to Court Documents: On October 17th, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle speeding and following too closely on Interstate 80. Rodrigo was identified as the driver and Armando was identified as the passenger. The order of raw cannabis was emitting from the vehicle. Geneseo Police Department’s K9 Kauzi alerted officers to the presence of drugs. The vehicle was relocated to a gas station in Geneseo for a vehicle search. A large black trash bag was located in the middle row seat, containing vacuum-sealed bags containing 163 pounds of cannabis. Rodrigo is from the Chicago area and through some friends got set up with a job to go to Green Lake, California, to pick up a bulk amount of cannabis, and drive back to the Chicago area. Armando lives in Oregon and is friends with Rodrigo. Armando met Rodrigo in Green Lake to ride with him back to the Chicago area. Both suspects made statements saying that they were aware of the cannabis in the vehicle.

Jacob Boss: Jacob Boss was released from custody with pretrial release conditions for a new theft case. A Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for October 28, 2024, at 1 PM. Jacob Boss is charged with Burglary (Class 2 Felony), Theft $500<10k (Class 3 Felony), and Criminal Trespass to Land (Class A Misdemeanor). According to court documents, Between May 5th and 7th, Jacob Boss entered a storage shed without lawful authority, located at 720 Handford Street, Geneseo, with the intent to commit theft. He is charged with stealing a backpack leaf blower and remaining on the property after he was told to leave.

Gage Peed: Gage Peed remains in custody. Gage Peed waived his preliminary hearing and formal arraignment. A Jury Pre-Trial is scheduled for November 21, 2024, at 9 AM. Gage Peed is charged with Violation of Sex Offender Registration (Class 3 Felony) for case 24CF168, Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony), Unlawful Possession of Credit/Debit Card (Class 3 Felony), and Theft <$500 (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 24CF284, and Violation of Sex Offender Registration (Class 3 Felony) and Sexual Predator in a Public Park (Class A Misdemeanor) for case 24CF285.

According to court documents: 2024CF284: Residents in the 200 block of W. Garfield Street in Kewanee reported a theft on October 1, 2024. The resident reported that a debit card and credit card were stolen from a dresser drawer in her bedroom. Sergeant Gibbs spoke with a neighbor who advised he observed a female enter the screened-in cat porch and immediately let Gage Peed in through the front door of the house. The two suspects were living in a fifth-wheel camper in the driveway of the residence. Gage Peed was observed on camera footage making purchases on the stolen cards. The debit card had $4,663.58 in fraudulent charges and the credit card had $1,107.26 in fraudulent charges.

2024CF285: Gage Peed failed to register an address in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration Act with the Kewane Police Department. Mr. Peed was also present in Johnson’s Park Sauk Trail between October 1st and 8th when he was prohibited from being in a public park from his status as a sex offender.
