Work on Backbone Road is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 10, 2024, and will result in daily rolling one-lane closures from 6 AM to 6 PM. The contractors will begin milling butt joints on Backbone Road from Route 26 in Princeton to the Wyanet/Walnut Blacktop. Asphalt paving will follow soon after. There will be one lane open with traffic control, so avoid the area if possible. The work is expected to take approximately three weeks, depending on the weather. The Bureau County Highway Department thanks you for your patience as they work on improvements to Backbone Road.
