The Kewanee Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club has selected local business owner Dan Rux to serve as the Parade Marshal for the 2024 Hog Days Parade. Set to commence on August 31, 2024, at 2 PM, the parade will feature a route led by Kewanee Police Chief Steve Kijanowski. Dan Rux, recognized for his extensive contributions to the community, will be at the forefront of this traditional celebration, which promises to bring together residents and visitors for an event filled with community spirit and festivity.
Dan Rux was born in Chicago but moved to Kewanee in 1973 after his parents purchased the Creamer Funeral Home. He attended Visitation Catholic School and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1979. He continued his education at Black Hawk College, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and the Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He started his Funeral Directing career in 1986 with his father Jerry at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee.
Dan is married to Rhonda and shares kids Adam and Deborah (Chicago), Zachary and Samantha (Kewanee), Lexy (Milwaukee, WI), Tauge and Amber (Englewood, CO), Caleb and Emily (Chicago), and Greta (Colorado Springs, CO). They have share grandchildren Ben and Everett, and their four-legged child, Ryder.
Dan has held memberships in several local civic organizations including Kewanee Kiwanis, Galva Rotary, Galva Lions, Kewanee Elks Lodge, the Knights of Columbus, and the National Funeral Directors Association. He enjoys serving as a Boy Scout Assistant Leader, local theater productions, gardening, an occasional round of golf, and visiting with his family and friends.
