The Peoria Police Department is investigating the death of a 9-month-old infant who was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center around 12:20 AM on July 26, 2024, unresponsive and not breathing. Despite aggressive efforts to resuscitate the infant, Kaine Santana H. Wolford of Green Street in Peoria, was pronounced deceased at 1:29 AM.
The autopsy on baby Wolford indicated no evidence of natural disease, congenital abnormalities, or trauma. Toxicology results indicate that baby Wolford suffered a Fentanyl intoxication, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
