Heather Frykman, Elegant Ms. Illinois Imperial Nations, is hosting a Doggy Costume Contest for her charity People Bonding With Animals – Joy at the Kewanee’s Enchanted Pumpkin Festival, adding heart this year with the return of the beloved Doggy Costume Contest and a touching new feature: the Rainbow Bridge Memorial Wall. Pet owners are invited to bring their pups in costume and sign the wall in remembrance of pets who have crossed over. The contest includes a $20 donation, with registration from 11:30 to 12:30 and the main event at 1 PM. Special recognition goes to the Illinois Department of Corrections Kewanee Life Skills Reentry Center for crafting the imaginative backdrops. Tune in on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, to Wake Up Tri-Counties to hear Heather Frykman talk about the doggy costume contest and her PBA=J charity.

Berrien Park in Kewanee is set to go to the dogs on October 18th, with a canine costume contest held alongside the Enchanted Pumpkin Festival, which runs from 10 AM to 3 PM. Entry requires a $20 donation, and all proceeds will assist senior, veteran, and disabled pet owners in providing care for their beloved animals. The event promises plenty of tail wags and creative costumes while making a real difference for those in need throughout the community. Costumed pups of all shapes and sizes are welcome to join in the festivities.
