The highly anticipated Edible Car Contest, organized by Illinois Valley Community College, is returning for its 18th year on February 28, 2024. Participants compete by crafting speedy cars entirely out of food, with past contenders using everything from tortillas and pasta to pretzels and Twinkies. Prizes aren’t just for speed, though, as the cars are also judged on their design, creativity, and more. This unique contest not only satiates Illinois Valley’s craving for fun, but also encourages the application of science, engineering, and math skills in a deliciously entertaining way.
