Memorial Hospital in Carthage is introducing a new Diabetes Empowerment: Food and Fitness Series, designed to help individuals with diabetes or pre-diabetes. The series includes six classes that feature a unique 30/30/30 approach—30 minutes of daily exercise, 30 grams of fiber, and 30 grams of protein per meal. The program offers cooking and fitness classes, starting February 19th, with a registration deadline of February 14th.

Cooking Classes in Memorial Hospital’s Teaching Kitchen
Dates: February 19, March 19, April 16
Time: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Participants will prepare and enjoy a healthy lunch with nutrition guidance from Exercise Physiologist and Registered Dietitian, Kara Andrew, while also learning diabetes management strategies from Kayce Fuhrman, Diabetes Educator.
Fitness Classes at FOCUS Fitness
Dates: March 5, April 2, April 30
Time: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Fitness classes at FOCUS Fitness will be led by Andrew and Fuhrman. Each participant will receive a set of exercise bands to keep. A FOCUS Fitness membership is not required to attend.
