Illinois Valley Community College is inviting students to participate in the 2025 Paul Simon Student Essay Contest. This is an opportunity for students to reflect on the transformative impact of their time at IVCC, crafting a 500-word essay on the theme “How IVCC has changed my life.” Participants stand a chance to win a $300 prize, with the honor of presenting the winning essay at the commencement ceremony scheduled for May 17th. Interested students should mark their calendars, as submissions will close on March 7, 2025. This contest not only offers a monetary reward but also celebrates personal growth and academic journey.

All currently enrolled full- or part-time IVCC students are eligible. Essays must be 500 words or less and be submitted as an attachment to [email protected]. Use “Paul Simon Essay” in the subject line.

The winning essay will be entered in the Illinois Community College Trustees Association (ICCTA) statewide contest. One submission will be chosen for a $500 award.
