Everyone was A Superhero at the Braveheart 5K Run/Walk today

It was a beautiful day today, and the turnout was great for the 2nd Annual Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center Superhero 5K run/walk. According to the Braveheart CAC webpage, before Children’s Advocacy Centers, kids had to tell their story to multiple agencies, reliving it repeatedly. Now, kids talk to one person.  The interviews are recorded, and other agencies can watch the interview from a different room on a TV.  “Our Braveheart team is there for families every step of the way, providing support during the investigation and even when it goes to court.” The Braveheart CAC helps kids on the worst days of their lives. Their mission is “Our mission is to strengthen our community’s response to child abuse through prevention, intervention and advocacy.” See you next year!  View the results here

Rosa Rushing may be one person in the Braveheart CAC family but she shares an appreciation and gratitude with the whole team.  She said, “Truly, I could write an essay but what I want to convey is what I say quite a bit – ALL contributions matters immensely. This can be “a tiny gesture” but it doesn’t matter how small. Ranging from volunteering, assisting with the bake sale, simply engaging a conversation about our cause, hosting a booth, sponsoring, being a community partner, sharing our event on social media, or simply being at the event. It matters; it all matters.” Rosa said that the 1% matters and has the power to “transform the world,” when combined with the 99%.  “Collectively, we provided a day of fun in a therapeutic way to bond families and the community together while learning about the wonderful resources that are available in our community.”
