One man was fatally shot on Houle Avenue in Kewanee on Sunday night around 7:30 PM. On March 24, 2024, Kewanee Police responded to the 100 block of Houle Avenue for a male lying on the road with a gunshot wound. Officers immediately administered life-saving measures until paramedics from the Kewanee Fire Department arrived. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. Area law enforcement agencies are assisting Kewanee Police with the investigation. Houle Avenue is closed to thru traffic for crime scene processing. The Kewanee Police Department is asking the public to stay away from the area and allow law enforcement personnel to work on the ongoing investigation, including going house to house looking for camera footage in the area.
