CARTHAGE, IL – A Fort Madison man was taken into custody and arrested in connection to a structure fire that occurred in rural Adrian, IL early Thursday morning.
According to a report issued by Hancock County Sheriff Travis Duffy, investigators discovered that a gun safe had been tampered with inside the structure and that over thirty guns were missing in addition to several boxes of ammunition, with the investigation ultimately pointing to a Buck A. Bruner, 36, of Fort Madison, IA.
Within 72 hours of the fire Bruner was taken into custody, charged with arson and burglary. All of the stolen guns and ammunition were recovered from his home. During a search of his residence, Fort Madison Police officers also discovered that Bruner was operating a large-scale drug growing operation out of his home, consisting of psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana.
Bruner faces additional charges of manufacturing psilocybin mushrooms within 1,000 feet certain properties while in possession of a firearm, a class C felony, possession with intent to deliver psilocybin mushrooms within 1,000 feet of certain properties while in possession of a firearm, a class C felony, manufacturing marijuana within 1,000 feet of certain properties while in possession of a firearm, a class D felony, drug tax stamp violation (2 counts), both are class D felonies, maintaining a drug house, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court of law.
